Five Hundred Mirrer Families Added to Distribution
The Mirrer Yeshiva in Yerushalayim is the largest yeshiva in the world. With over 8,500 single and married students studying in its many buildings, “The Mir” is renowned for the erudition of its students, including many who learn Torah full time even after they establish large families.
So when the Executive Director of Mesamche Lev, Rabbi Ashkenazi, visited Eretz Yisroel this winter, it was only natural that he visited Rabbi Eliezer Yudel Finkel, shlita, Rosh Yeshivas Mir. It was a meeting of great import. The great sage and Torah leader of thousands, conferring with the director of an organization that helps feed and clothe thousands of families.
Rabbi Finkel and his Rebbetzin were extremely welcoming. They expressed their appreciation to Mesamche Lev for alleviating the poverty of so many families, and were effusive in their admiration for the shoe program and other Mesamche Lev initiatives.
By the end of the meeting, Mesamche Lev had added five hundred names to its list of recipients: Torah scholars from the Mirrer Yeshiva with large families. The families took part in Mesamche Lev’s Pesach distribution, and received shoes, meat, grocery coupons and dairy products.
“These are people who sacrifice willingly for Torah,” Said the Executive Director “I am so glad to be able to make a difference in their lives.”
